Château de Lacarelle

A tradition since 1203

The family is already settled in Beaujolais when they bought by auction the Chateau in 1750. The family Durieu de la Carelle gave its name to the property when entering the estate. Since then, the vineyard, enlarged by each generation, is transmitted in a direct line from parents to children.

A castle from the 15th Century

Château de Lacarelle is one of the oldest family wine estates in the region. But the chateau is above all the largest with its 138 hectares. The average age of the vines is 40 years old. The dominant exposure is south-southeast.

A longterm vision

Currently 3 generations are at work, together they share the same philosophy "tradition and modernity" to develop conventional and organic wines. The regularity and excellence of their vintages is regularly hailed by medals, the oldest medal dates back to the year 1856.

A place for artists

Full of history, the Château de Lacarelle uses a stable and an orangery for summer exhibitions. An inner courtyard, a vaulted cellar and an old hayloft for theater or concerts.

Around wine, sharing

Nature gives us each year a different and unique material, worked by our hands. We offer you the works of our "Art". We associate with our approach, theater, painting, music, to stage our wine, make it known and share it in our places. Some artists like to create on the spot, in residence.

Welcome to Beaujolais!

For those who have the time and wish to rest in the heart of the vineyards, we offer a reception area for family groups, or friends, with 40 beds. Everything is done to share the quality of our wines, the beauty of our landscapes, the art of living in Beaujolais ..
